Adult Behaviour T&C's

Terms and Conditions for Adult Behaviour at Children’s Class
Guidelines to Ensure a Safe, Respectful, and Positive Learning Environment

Creating and maintaining a nurturing and secure environment is paramount for all children’s classes. Adults attending, supervising, or observing children’s activities hold a position of responsibility; their conduct must reflect the highest standards of respect, safety, and integrity. These terms and conditions are designed to establish clear expectations for adult behaviour in all children’s classes, covering parents, guardians, carers, and any other adult participants.

1. Respectful Conduct

Adults must treat all children, instructors, staff, and other adults with courtesy, respect, and patience.
Refrain from raising voices, using harsh language, or engaging in any form of verbal abuse.
Respect each child’s individuality and avoid unfair comparisons, criticism, or judgement.
Support instructors by following classroom protocols and refraining from disruptive behaviour.

2. Safety and Welfare

Maintaining the physical and emotional safety of children is the foremost priority.
Adults must never use physical or emotional punishment, intimidation, or coercion.
Report any concerns about a child’s welfare or safety to the instructor or appropriate authority immediately.
Physical contact with children should be kept to a minimum and only for legitimate reasons, such as first aid or gentle guidance.

3. Boundaries and Privacy

Adults must respect the personal space and privacy of all children.
Do not enter private or restricted areas unless specifically authorised and accompanied by a staff member.
Refrain from photographing or recording children unless written parental consent is provided and approved by the class organiser.
Never share information about children’s performance, behaviour, or personal details outside the class environment.

4. Support and Encouragement

Positive reinforcement is encouraged to help children flourish.
Offer encouragement and praise for effort and achievement, regardless of outcome.
Be mindful of language; ensure feedback is constructive and age-appropriate.
Show patience with children’s learning styles, abilities, and developmental stages.

5. Participation and Engagement

Adults should participate only as invited, ensuring their contribution is relevant and non-disruptive.
Respect the instructor’s authority and teaching methods.
Do not interrupt lessons, interfere with activities, or attempt to direct children unless requested by staff.

6. Equal Opportunity and Inclusion

Every child deserves equal access and respect within the class.
Embrace diversity and inclusion, refraining from any form of discrimination or exclusion.
Be sensitive to cultural, religious, and individual differences.
Ensure that all children feel valued, included, and safe to express themselves.

7. Substance Restrictions

For the health and safety of all, substance use is strictly regulated.
No adult should use or be under the influence of alcohol or drugs on the premises.
Report any concerns regarding substance use to the class organiser immediately.

8. Dress Code

Adults should wear appropriate attire that reflects the nature of a children’s class environment.
Clothing should be modest, practical, and free from offensive images or slogans.
Footwear should be safe and suitable for the activities taking place.

9. Confidentiality

Protect the confidentiality of all class participants.
Do not discuss children’s personal matters, family situations, or health issues with others.
Any concerns should be communicated directly to the class organiser or instructor in a private setting.

10. Communication

Adults must communicate in a clear, respectful, and professional manner.
Raise concerns or suggestions privately with the instructor or organiser, rather than in front of children or other adults.
Listen actively and respectfully to staff, children, and other parents.

11. Discipline Procedures

Any breaches of these terms and conditions may result in the adult being asked to leave the class or barred from future sessions, at the discretion of the organiser.

12. Agreement

By attending or participating in a children’s class, all adults agree to abide by these terms and conditions. The organiser reserves the right to amend these guidelines at any time.

Conclusion

The presence and behaviour of adults significantly influence the environment and experience of children’s classes. By adhering to these terms and conditions, adults play an essential role in creating a positive, safe, and inclusive learning space where children can thrive, discover, and grow.
